Places of Togetherness

Places of Togetherness is an interdisciplinary group of scientists, artists, and researchers working with local communities to reactivate public spaces through collective and inclusive activities, thus weaving back the social fabric of diverse urban neighborhoods. Drawing from research, art, exploration, and collaboration, our work aims to create spaces, platforms, and structures for interaction, knowledge exchange, mutual care, and participation. We take action based on collective imagination, while bringing history, individual stories, and collective memory into the present. 
 

The organization sprung out of a participatory research program funded by European Union's Horizon 2020 and developed in the city of Nikea, Greece. It was founded in 2023 to continue working on facilitating participation in the area and beyond. Through our work we aim at exploring different approaches to participation on the ground, while documenting them through different means (publications, newspapers, exhibitions, events etc.) and exchanging ideas and lessons learned with other initiatives worldwide.
